Interview with AUTHOR

Satania: Hi and happy Midsummer day! First tell me more about the project?

Author: Hmm. Around 2013 I was at my friends rehearsals and had an idea that I want to make music my own. It’s so long story that I don’t have right words for it I guess.

S.: Because you are a one man band act the name Author is understandable, maybe. Why did you choose this name? Perhaps there is a deeper meaning.

A.: Actually that is the main reason. It’s also a word with lots of meanings especially if you translate it to Finnish, and it’s annoying for some people opinion, but when something bothers you, you remember it.. So.. Haha. Everyone can take it as they want.. Rest of the background I keep myself.

S.: Why did you decide to make music by you own?

A.: Becaquse 90’s (especially norwegian) black metal has always been so close to my heart and how I see it nowdays there isn’t so many people to keep the legacy on if you know what I mean. And I hate democracy, when you do things on our own, you get what you want and there isn’t other cooks to stir the soup.

S.: Your debut album Lopun alku is awesome. Tell me more about the process of its creation and recording?

A.: Uhm. I really don’t know what to say about the process. I record riffs always when I have inspiration and then I just start at some point to glue the pieces together. Then reocord it all again after the puzzle is done. Some songs comes at one weekend, some take months of time before I’m satisfied, that’s the way I did „Lopun Alku“ and will do in the future too.

S.: Are there other musicians featured in the album recording?

A.: Only a drummer „J.W“ and the reason why there is, is that my drumming skills suck at this point .

S.: What is the theme of the lyrics? What do you sing about?

A.: Dealing with death and hell here on earth and also in our heads… And also love haha.

S.: What are your inspirations? From where do you get energy and ideas for your music?

A.: Hmm, mostly when I’m just pissed off. Music isn’t that personal but I put that hate/anger and frustrated feelings to fretboard.
And ofcourse sometimes I get ideas from listening other bands music etc. like everyone does I guess.

S.: Very soon you will be touring with Demonical. Did you have other performances and where?

A.: In Finlad we have done 7 shows this year, and two of them with Demonical and Isvind. Well we have been doing lots of shows together with Demonical, european tour for example last year.

S.: How do things happen on stage? What an Author’s show looks like?

A.: You have to see it yourself 😉

S.: With which musicians do you present your music live?

A.: With my close and trusted friends.

S.: I know you released your album earlier this year and maybe it’s still early, but are you working on new music and what are your plans for the near future?

A.: Release next full album 2018-2019. Maybe I release one or two songs from it this year after the Eastern Invasion tour. I sketch and record riffs everytime when I have time so there is lots of material for future… 😉 But I don’t want to rush with it, I want to make good music with time… „Quality“ instead of quantity.

S.: How do you imagine Bulgaria?

A.: I think It’s going to be awesome. Hopefully people likes our live performance there but we will see it then.

S.: Your final message to fans?
