Interview with Chris Bonos (NIHILISM)

Satania: What is the philosophy behind the ‘Nihilism’ project?

Chris: Nihilism is project, praising the philosophical theory that life has no intrinsic meaning or value.With respect to the universe, existential nihilism enshrouds the futility of existance. A cosmos carved from nothing is fragile and null, and so us all. No purpose, nor possibility of changing in the totality of life.

S.: Tell us about your debut album. How long did the composing and the recording take?

Ch.: Obscurite Noir was a big event for Nihilism. We wanted to manifest the finest art we were possible of envoking at that period. The composition lasted over a year, most of this time though was sacrificed into settling our feelings and minds. It was very important to visualise the art that was due to be created, the essence of nothingness had to strike in order to create something real and not another themed album about sad people. The recordings were finished in a matter of days, we wanted something raw and chaotic and overworking would fuck the project. All these with the total support from our brother and producer George (Mass Infection) who took care of the recordings, mix and master at Infected Studios.

S.: Is there a concept behind it or a message?

Ch.: There is neither a concept nor a message we persue to invoke the listener into. The lyrics are our mindset,our philoshophy and our believes spoken in a poetic way, whilst the music is the feeling we get from all the things mentioned above.

S.: With which famous bands and musicians have you shared a stage?

Ch.: In 2018-19, during the first year as an active band we had the honour to perform with Aura Noir, Batuskha, Harakiri for the sky and GRÁ, more dates are soon to be announced though.

S.: Do you have any special expectations from Bulgaria and the Bulgarian audience?

Ch.: We have never performed in Bulgaria so we do not have much to expect, we do know though you have a strong scene in your country. I really hope we will confirm that as well and witness the Bulgarian extreme metal mayhem.
