Ronnie от Pretty Maids специално за MetalHangar18

MH18: Welcome back to Bulgaria. How do you feel in Kavarna?
Ronnie: I feel good. I like it here. We were for first time here last year and had really some good time.

MH18: Almost 1 year has passed since your participation in Kavarna Rock. Did you enjoy it?
Ronnie: It was fun and the crowd was amazing.

MH18: Was there something interesting behind the scenes worth mentioning?
Ronnie: Just hanging around with the other bands, nothing particular actually

MH18: „Louder Than Ever“ was announced to be an in-between album. Tell me something about the new album.
Ronnie: Well, we cannot talk much about it because it is not written yet. But the new album is going to be released in 2016.

MH18: Do you have some ideas about the new material?
Ronnie: Yes of course, we always have ideas. Everytime I have an idea I record it on my phone, and sometimes me and Ken sit together and write songs.

MH18: Will you work together with Jacob Hansen on this new record?
Ronnie: Yes, definitely. When he is available.

MH18: Do you plan to have some videos from the new album?
Ronnie: We will probably film one or two videos for this album.

MH18: Your song deal with everyday life topics and some stories from the near past. What is your inspiration?
Ronnie: It depends a little bit on the song, what kind of a song. There are some songs which sound aggressively, they are inspired mostly by what you see on TV, you see.

MH18: Let’s talk about some Pretty Maids songs and how they were written, if there is some history behind. What about „Die With Your Dreams“
Ronnie: I don’t remember anything particular about this song. It was
just written at a rehearsal.“

MH18: „Dear or Alive“ deals with a rebellion in Myanmar.
Ronnie: Yes, yes, this song is again from Spooked album. The lyrics is about rebellion and staff

MH18: Did you get inspired by TV or an article?
Ronnie: Whatever comes to mind sometimes. It is difficult to say there was anything particular. But most of the time we are inspired by what we see on TV.

MH18: „He Who Never Lived“ was re-recorded for „Louder Then Ever“. Is there some special story behind it?
Ronnie: I don’t remember how it was written. Most of the songs are written at rehearsal. There is no special story behind it.

MH18: „The Iceman“ tells the story of the killer Richard Kuklinski.
Ronnie: This music was again written at a rehearsal but the idea for The Iceman came to my mind after reading the book about Kuklinski.

MH18: Have you ever got tired of playing hits like „Future World“ all these years? Have you ever wanted to play songs which are not so popular to the audience?
Ronnie: We try to play the combination of what we want to play and what the fans want to hear. „Future World“- I still enjoy playing that song. May be not all the songs have the same value for the audience but especially for this song – the people expect us to play it.

MH18: You recorded „It Comes Alive“ in Switzerland. Is Switzerland some special location for Pretty Maids with a lot of fans there? Why did you choose Switzerland?
Ronnie: It was a great value for the pocket and this place is very close to the German border. We played there every tour and the sound was good.

MH18: So actually there are a lot of fans?
Ronnie: Yes

MH18: You have very often shows in Denmark
Ronnie: Yes We play gigs on Fridays and Saturdays but often we play outside in Sweden too.

MH18: Which is you favorite location for live shows?
Ronnie: I like playing everywhere, I cannot say I have a particularly favorite location.

MH18: Is there a place where the fans are more devouted? What about Japan and your shows there?
Ronnie: In Japan the fans have always been very devouted. The fans sit and listen carefully every word of the lyrics. But I can say that all the fans are devouted.

MH18: You have already participated in 70000 tons of metal. It sounds to be very special event. Tell us more about it.
Ronnie: I think it is a very special event for the fans and for the bands. You practically walk to each other. The fans get very close to the bands. There are a lot of different bands playing, there is music all the time. For a heavy metal kid this should be fantastic.

MH18: What about Internet, Youtube and mp3 files. Did they totally change the music business?
Ronnie: They did of course. We don’t sell a lot of CDs anymore physically because people download mp3 and stuff like that. The whole scene was just changed. But somehow we have to deal with it.

MH18: Do you have to tour more frequently these days?
Ronnie: Yes, because that’s where you make the money, by touring and stuff like that.

MH18: If you could ban this, would you do it?
Ronnie: The Internet is good for something but sometimes it takes away a little bit of the excitement because you already know what songs are about to be played at the concert because the setlist is already in the net. It takes a little bit of the mystique away.

MH18: Last year you performed „Another Brick In The Wall“. Is this your favorite song?
Ronnie: We just play it sometimes before I.N.V.U. It is something Ken did and it worked fine.

MH18: I.N.V.U reminds me of another question. Do you envy some bands for the commercial success?
Ronnie: I do not envy anybody. It would be great to be as successful as Metallica, but I don’t envy anybody.

MH18: Did you put „Why So Serious“ in the setlist for this evening?
Ronnie: We played this song a lot during the „Motherland“ tour and it is not in the setlist for tonight.

MH18: Any last words for the readers of MetalHangar18.com
Ronnie: I hope you like the band and I hope will be back in Bulgaria to play again.
