Интервю с INSANITY CULT

MH18: Hi guys! Thanks for that interview. So, for first tell us more about the band. Who are Insanity Cult?

I.C.: Greetings, Insanity Cult were formed back in 2011 by Sacrilegious (vocals) and Έκπτωτος (lead guitar) but it was not until 2013 when the line-up of the band stabilized, that we could properly work to incarnate our music. Beleth (drums) and Buer (bass) joined in 2012 and a year later, in 2013, Vohamon (rhythm guitar) joined to complete the line-up. In January of 2014 we releashed an EP called „Insanity Be My Kvlt“, featuring three songs. Finally, in April of 2015 our debut full-length album called „As My End Unfolds…“ was released in a 6 panel digipak edition limited to 200 copies. Curently, we are working on the second full-lenth album.

MH18: Interesting band’s name. Which is your personal insanity and what is a cult for you?

I.C.: Insanity is a subjective notion and so is the personal cult towards one’s dementia. As such, this question is one that is more properly done in some form of individual cogitation. As for what is each Insanity Cult member’s personal paranoia and his own relation with it, who could speak of his madness without sounding completely incomprehensible or even blithering? It is a lonely path, to wander the soul…

MH18: You’re still underground band. Do you dream to become famous?

I.C.: Popularity is not something worth pursuing for us. The motivation for our musical creation is far from any secularized need for self approval. In fact, taking into consideration how fame has affected Black Metal, the underground seems more welcoming.

MH18: Tell me how happened your collaboration with Belgarath. What impressions do you have from their music?

I.C.: We were already to participate in the final act of the „Nihilism Upon Mankind Balkan Tour 2015“ in Lamia, Greece along with Human Serpent, so we were already in contact with them. After some alterations to the line-up of the live event in Burgas, we received an invitation to perform there too and we accepted. We had not heard of Belgarath before but we were contented to find some decent Black Metal in their music, full of hatred.

MH18: Tell me more about work on your debut album? How thinks happened, where, with who?

I.C.: „As My End Unfolds…“ is a symbolic album. It is the realization of the fall. The sight of a starless sky and pain’s cold embrace to someone who can only dream of stars. A melancholic nightmare leading to his self-destruction so that he can live. Eternally craving for a tear in his empty, dried up eyes.
So, the album was recorded in 2014 in Greece where it was also mixed and mastered. All music and lyrics were written by the band. The artwork of the CD was also created and illustrated by the band. The album was originally supposed to be released in January of 2015 but there were some delays during the printing process, so we were forced to postpone its release for April.

MH18: What do you think about your local black metal scene? There are many good bands in no doubts. Are you playing with some of them or, if you are not, with who you want to play?

I.C.: There is no doubt that there are many notable black metal bands coming out of Greece but unfortunately there is no appropriate infrastructure to support them, nor is there to easily organize and perform live performances. One could spend hours talking about the flagitious situation and the speculative practices of both live bars and some bands alike but that story is already told myriads of times. Anyone who has eyes can see and we have no time to spare for hypocrites. Other than that, there are many bands that we have performed with, such as Dark Portrait, a decent Symphonic Black Metal band, and many more that we would have the pleasure to perform with in the future.

MH18:In your music have a bit melanholy which give to your music unique dark atmosphere. Do you have any influences?

I.C.: The influence of our music are our personal feelings as well as our views on life. Sorrow is indeed a fundamental factor in our music, we acknowledge, however, that every member perceives pain in a different way. We do not delimit or restrict our souls and feelings trying to reproduce a widespread pattern of what pain is and how it „should be“ expressed.

MH18: Who are your personal inspirators if you have any?

I.C.: Nothing is an inspiration and everything at the same time. It is not the thing itself that inspire us to write music, but the way our eyes perceive it.

MH18:You will sell your debut album „As My End Unfolds…“ in your gig in Burgas. But for fans who will like it from where they can order it?

I.C.: Yes, indeed. The CD will be available in the concert in Burgas, as well as in Lamia and in any future live performance. For those willing to purchase the album, they can either send a message to our official Facebook page  or contact us via e-mail in the official band e-mail: insanity_cult@hotmail.com. The cost of the CD is 7 euros.

MH18: Scandinavian vs other black metal scenes? Which do you prefer?

I.C.: There is no need to create an hierarchy of „better or worse“ Black Metal scene. It is the music itself and the feelings it creates that make us listen to a band, not the country it emerged from. But if we were to say a scene that includes many bands we like, even if each member has its own preferences, we could agree on the Finnish and maybe the German one.

MH18: Excepting Belgarath are you listened some other bulgarian black metal bands? At all do you have some look on our black metal scene and what do you think?

I.C.: Belgarath is not the first Black Metal band from Bulgaria we have listened to. The bulgarian scene seems to have many decent Black Metal bands, especially when it comes to Pagan Black Metal such as Raggradarh, of course. Frozen Tears and Orenda, also have some really interesting material to offer. Dying In The Woods is also a really interesting project.

MH18: You’re not been in Bulgaria before, I guess, I mean to play gigs? What do you expect from the fans, from the gig in Burgas?

I.C.: No, it is our first live performance in Bulgaria. From what we’ ve heard, the crowd there is really enthusiastic and supportive. I guess we will soon find out.

MH18: Would you planing to visit other bulgarian sityes to play in the future?

I.C.: There are currently no certain plans for any future live performance in Bulgaria, but we believe that there will be.

MH18: Last words.

I.C.: In this eternal Night, the weeping stars will sing for those lost in the coldest sky, the sky of my eyes…“
