Интервю с Per Lümbersson (AEON OF AWARENESS)

AEON OF AWARENESS are a relatively young band, but their music cannot go unnoticed. They recently released their first single, titled „Resignation“, and we contacted Per Lümbersson, the band’s mastermind.

F: What can you say about your single „Resignation“?

 P: Our musical journey began with “Resignation”. In this respect, the single has a very special meaning for various reasons. It was the first song I’ve recorded and mixed completely on my own. From that I was able to grow and develop. At the same time I registered that there is still a long way to the „perfect“ sound.

F: Your Facebook page says AEON OF AWARENESS is a two-people project. Do you have certain roles in creating the music or you’re both working simultaneously? 

P: At first AEON OF AWARENESS was thought as a solo project. So a lot of the duties like songwriting, promotion etc. were in my hands. However, my vocalist got involved in the creative process and also wrote lyrics for the song “Fort Fortress”. We both have each clear tasks in the project and make important decisions on the basis of joint agreements.

F: Are there people outside the band helping with the visual identity of the band for example or it’s all done by yourselves? 

P: During the last weeks and months we got in touch with some people who’ve accompanied us on our musical journey through the realms of Melodic Death Metal. An energetic support we got from our Belgian graphic designer Charlotte Eleonore. Without her, certain things wouldn’t have been realized in such a short amount of time. At this point we would like to express many thanks to her once again.

F: Share how was the song „Resignation“ born? 

P: The basic idea for “Resignation” was born several years ago. At that time, I’ve discovered the Finnish band WOLFHEART at Summerbreeze Festival. One of their first songs called “The Hunt” cast a spell on me. Especially Tuomas Saukkonen, the mastermind of the band, impressed me with his unconditional will to succeed. He said goodbye to his former projects (all of them were quite successful) in order to form a completely new band on his own. “Resignation” was a direct result of the inspiration I drew from the great and in my opinion very meaningful music of WOLFHEART.

F: Describe in details your creative process. What are your greatest inspirations and why? 

P: My creativity comes primarily from the inspirations I draw from various sources. This is for example a suitable song at a certain time as well as deep conversations with inspiring people. From time to time I also find suitable ideas for new songs in conscious retreat or isolation. Furthermore, I’ve recently got familiar and fascinated by indigenous peoples. Especially with the culture and mythology of the Māori (as can be seen from our logo).

As I wrote before, the band WOLFHEART and especially the „spirit“ of Tuomas Saukkonen are among my biggest sources of inspiration in recent years. So all by all, I’m fascinated by people who don’t let themselves be diverted from their path despite opposition. People who feel the fire of passion within and who believe in their dreams and above all don’t stop themselves from continuously working on them.

F: Where does the name of the band come from? 

P: The name can be interpreted in many ways. As can be seen from our biography, the project is a return to already known musical shores from younger days. Furthermore, it is important to us to free ourselves from the shackles of the past in order to tread new musical paths.  Thus the circle is completed.  From a musical point of view, a new chapter begins for us.  With the awareness and experience of the previous years  we want to rediscover us once again without forgetting our musical roots.

F: What are your plans for AEON OF AWARENESS? What’s the ultimate direction for your band?

P: I’m in the process of writing new songs for another EP. Furthermore, we had a video shoot for the song “Fort Fortress“ over the weekend. I think that this video will be released in the course of the coming weeks. Another big goal is to play a few gigs from the end of this year and if the pandemic allows it we can plan a small tour.

F: How can fans and future fans locate, listen to and buy your music?

P: Our songs are currently available on all popular streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Napster and so on. Furthermore, the EP is also available for purchase on Bandcamp.

F: Is there anything else you would like your fans to know?

P: Stay healthy and hold on to your goals and dreams in life and continue to join us on our musical journey.
