Sylvatica from Denmark plays melodic death, drawing inspiration from folk, thrash and black metal. The band released their debut EP Sagn og Sagaer in 2010 which was followed by the EP Mosemanden in 2011. In 2012, the single Blodrøde Blade was published. Now it’s time for their debut album Evil Seeds to find its place among the fans’ favourites.

I suffered a great deal earlier this month when I came to the conclusion that the next In Flames album won’t be a retrospection of  their beautiful past. Luckily I came across the perfect remedy – Evil Seeds grew straight up in my heart. A flower amongst darnels, this effort names the game for all the weeds sprouting in metal lately. Fast, melodic and addictively guitar-orientated, the album is a perfect suggestion if you want to variegate your musical player.

In case you’ve missed the point, let me clear it – Sylvatica make the glorious combination of melodic death and folk metal even more glorious. As for me, this is enough to put them in the ‘favourite bands’ list.
In Evil Seeds you will register with tons of pleasure the old fascinatigly heavy In Flames, the new refined Amon Amarth, the fresh and young Kalmah, just a bit of the sober Korpiklaani and, of course, the pioneers Eluveitie.

Multilayered and colourful, this production will enchain you to your headphones; the desire to hear it over and over again won’t fade with time, I guarantee, and the strong urge to bang your head will shake your vertebrae long, long after you’ve pressed the pause button.

Eleven songs, full of minds and meanings, rich in composition and lyrics, eleven ideally selected higlights in just one album – Evil Seeds is definately the HIT of the season.
