Hi Adam! Thank you for taking the time to talk to me and Metal Hangar 18! I hope that you are ready! Let’s begin:

First of all, let’s start with a brief introduction. Describe DOPESICK to people who have never heard of you before.

DOPESICK is a loud heavy aggressive mix of music! I like so much different music and it comes out when I write songs. So DOPESICK is all over the place style wise, but it’s heavy punk rock ‘n’ roll with some reggae in there sometimes.

Your debut EP „The Love And Terror Cult“ is on it’s way. Do you plan a full length release any time soon? How do you see the future of the band?

„The Love and Terror Cult“ is out April 28 on EMP Label Group. Its got 5 songs on it that kinda show what to expect on the full length which is what we are working on now. We’ve got a lot of music done and trying to pick what is best to put on the album. With the response to the 2 songs that came out, I’m really excited to get the EP out and finish the full length which I hope is done by the end of the year. So 2017 is a busy year for us!

Speaking of „The Love And Terror Cult“, what happened in August 1969?

Really! That’s when the Manson murders went down! I live in Hollywood and that all happened close to where I now live so I’ve always been into serial killers and that true crime shit!

You did two amazing songs featuring the talented and well-known vocalists Cristian Machado from ILL NINO and Jahred Gomez from (HED)P.E. Do you consider adding a permanent singer to the band’s lineup? Or do you still have some more guest appearances planned?

Thank you very much! Absolutely! I started working with my old singer that worked for about a day! Ha! Then I had a new guy I really liked but was a junkie, so that’s why the EP came to life. I’ve known Jahred since ’98 when I toured with (HED)P.E. when I was in SKINLAB so I always wanted to work with him. He’s one of my ALL TIME favorite singers. He’s bad ass! Cristian is in ILL NINO with the manager I had at the time Dave Chavarri so Dave hooked me and him up. Cristian is also BAD ASS! He took a song I was gonna ditch and made it so fucking cool! I learned a lot working around him. These guys are so different so it was fun to work with both of them. I wanna do 1 or 2 songs on the full length with guests but my singer will be involved and on both songs also.

As far as we know DOPESICK began two decades ago. What happened in the meantime and why it took so long for „The Love And Terror Cult“ to be released?

Wow A LOT! Ha! After I started DOPESICK right when I got out of prison in ’98, but I went on tour with SKINLAB and that stopped it for a bit, then my bass player got killed on a motorcycle and when that happened Sebastian Bach was looking for a guitar player so I sent him a DOPESICK demo „Angel Down“. He liked it so I played and recorded with Sebastian for a while, some more jail and trouble, then this time I was just so focused and felt like I had a lot to prove so I just went for it FULL on and it seems to be paying off this time. I’m really proud of this EP and the new music that’s coming out!

Tell us a few words about the musicians in the band. Who are they and what brought you together?
I don’t wanna talk too much about them yet, but Greg Collister is the drummer in DOPESICK and really cool so me and him are working on music while I deal with the singer stuff. What brought us together – the blond headed monster at the Rainbow Bar and Grill! Ha ha!

What music do you listen to when you are stuck in traffic on a busy day?
Hopefully Jonesy’s Jukebox! It’s on KLOS-FM from 12 -2 and he talks to cool people and plays super cool stuff! If not that Bob Marley, BUCKCHERRY, KING 810, new SUICIDE SILENCE.

Your top 3 records of all time?
Oh man! BAD BRAINS – „I Against I“, VAN HALEN – „Fair Warning“, OZZY – „Diary of a Madman“? For today, ha!

Is there a band that you wish to tour with?
I’d love to tour with P.O.D., (HED)P.E., 311, BAD BRAINS, DEFTONES, so many bands that I’d love to tour with!

What are your views on the rock/metal scene these days? Do you see it falling, rising or just the same as before?

I think rock will always be around, but now it’s not like it was before with MTV and all that kinda stuff but there will ALWAYS be a kid somewhere learning new guitar stuff, and they go back to the roots and that kinda starts the whole thing over again but through a new fresh set of ears and energy. You see waves of stuff come and go but I think the kids will always be kids and they will always want to rock the fuck out! I think everyone should buy music and support the stuff they like. Don’t just download a song, listen to the whole record, buy the whole record!

There are always people here and there that try and kill the good mood. How do you deal with naysayers and people who do not appreciate your art?

Fuck em! That’s their deal, you’re not gonna make everyone happy but if I can fill the room I’m in that night I’m happy and the people that came there to have fun that’s what it’s all about! If you don’t like what I do, cool, don’t listen to it but to just hate on other people just to hate? Those people have other problems! I can just do me and if I do that I’m good, and smoke a lot of weed.

What do you do in your spare time? Any hobbies and/or side projects?
I listen to music all the time if that’s a hobby? I’ve been flying drones lately it’s fun, I collect horror stuff, skate, fish, I like outdoors shit.

Okay this is an important one… Cats or dogs?
DOGS! I like both actually I like animals more than most people I think. I don’t have a cat now but have had cats and dogs all my life!
