SODAMNED – The Loneliest Loneliness
SODAMNED. Maybe not much of you know this name… Brazilian death metal. Not so long ago the band recordered their debut album called „The Loneliest Loneliness“. This sounds pretty „doom“, right? Yes, but they’re not depressive at all!
The album contains 10 songs in about 39min. You can feel pretty much technique and melody – you can hear the guitars very clearly. The main vocals are deep, not so „grunty“. Sometimes you can hear soft screams, which fits very well in all the songs and entire album.
From the beginning of the first song „Fear“ you can get some idea what’s next. The songs are pretty identical, which on the other side makes the album sounds as one. First time when I played it, I was so deep in the music that I didn’t realize when a new song start, when the whole album was in the end.
The second song made me an impression with the crystal clear vocal part in the middle (which personally I don’t like a lot), followed by a nice guitar solo. The same is happening in „Sky and Earth“ too… My personal favourite is „Tortures and Nightmares“ – great rhythm and those „scream“ vox were quite less. Exactly how I like it!
Here is the entire tracklist of „The Loneliest Loneliness“:
01. Fear
02. Graveyard of Secrets
03. Tortures and Nightmares
04. Sky and Earth
05. Hope
06. Um Enigma Envolto Em Misterio
07. The Mountain
08. Painted in Blue
09. Hanged
10. Ewige Wiederkunft
True that it’s full with such bands, but every single one has its own magic. For example – me, I prefer more brutal bands, but… There is something in „The Loneliest Loneliness“ that makes me keep SODAMNED in my playlist from 4-5 days ago.
Technique, melody, power, speed, heavy plus clear vocals… A little for everyone! Nothing more to say! Very nice for fans of the classic death metal and same time for lovers of the more melodic one. I give 7/10 just because of the vocal diversion in the songs “Graveyard of Secrets”, “Sky and Earth” and “Painted in Blue” which in my opinion does not fit well in the whole picture.

In September this year SODAMNED were on an European tour along with the „doom“-sters Pain Of Soul. The tour stopped in Sofia too – on September 13th. The show was part of a number of concerts for celebrating the fourth birthday of Metal Hangar 18.
Unfortunately I couldn’t attend it. And I would like to hear SODAMNED not only on a CD, but on stage too.
