Shining – Född förlorare

On 25th of May Shining releas their new album Född förlorare, which means born loser. I still can not understand this band, they are definitely making very strange black metal, I can not say even it’s melodic. If I was the person, defining the style, would rather say – depressive black metal. With the soft, lyrical variations and acoustic guitars in Tiden läker inga sar, the piano and viola in Tillsammans är vi allt , definitely these are the thoughts, which overtake me. The old things are more into black metal in a way, but not at all, still make difference with their doom style depression, the music is really good, they just circulate into different styles too fast. The vocalist Niklas Kvarforth is more speaking and singing. I would make compare this album with some My dying Bride’s albums – the title of the lyrics, the lyrics themselves ( Swedish), and they are caring similar mood. The bands are changing, this is normal. Shining are definitely trying to express their feelings and moods in the songs, to put into the spiritual pain and the listener can feel this. It’s up to the person if he will like or not. Also the cover artwork of the album is very depressive, it’s just what I feel, when I am watching desperate people, holding their heads in hands and watching the floor. This is what I feel, when I hear Född förlorare. In the moment I am still wondering if I like it or not, this is music for a definite moods, for definite feelings, definite state of mind, actually it is for definite people.
