LOCH VOSTOK – приказка за двама крале и шведската стомана

LOCH VOSTOK – A Tale of Two Kings and swedish steel

Q: Hey, Teddy! I’m glad you agreed to give this interview for Metal Hangar 18. Now let’s proceed as if I have asked „How are you?“ and you replied „I’m fine „and continue from there, hehe!

A: Sure bro, let’s fucking do this shit!

Q: Did you make recapitulation few months after the release of „V: The Doctrine Decoded Review“? How was the album accepted in your opinion?

А: Right after the album was finished I had two other productions duties, so I finished that shit, then we started to prepare for the Progressive Assault tour with Leprous, Orkenkjott and Persefone. The album was released when the tour started, but sent to reviewers about three weeks prior. The reviews have been crazy. 99% of them ranging from „great album“ to „best album ever“ with a side order of the 1% that were like „I don’t get it, therefore this is the worst music ever“ hahaha!

Q: Typically, most bands, if not all, claim that their latest album is by far their best. What do you think?

А: I actually see Dystopium and Doctrine as two sides of the same coin, they’re both fucking awesome of course. If I didn’t think so, I’d quit making music tomorrow. Reveal No Secrets has production issues, and some of the songs are too long and boring, it clearly shows a band outta sync, and in need of change. Destruction Time Again is very cool and so is Dark Logic.

Q: Why did you choose to shoot video specifically for the song „Sacred Structure“?
A: That was Klingwall’s choice. He really wanted it, and the rest of the band agreed. I personally would’ve liked to shoot a video for Navigator which, in my opinion, is the „hit single“ of Dystopium.

Q: What was the reason for changing Nightmare Records for ViciSolum Productions and how satisfied are you with your current label?

А: Nightmare didn’t want to release Dystopium, so our management, Intromental, helped us find Vicisolum, who is without doubt, the best label we could possibly find. It is a one man company with a will power of a big ass company for sure, and the distro is great. Plus, Thomas is a fun dude and great to hang out with!

Q: Sometimes I think that the same way as almost everything is already played in music, almost all meaningful questions are already asked in the interviews … Yet a cliché: would you describe each member of the group with one word?

А: Well, you don’t have to invent the fucking wheel again, to build a great car! I steal a lot. Mainly from King Diamond hahaha!

Teddy: MacGuyver, Klingwall: Thinker, Jimmy: Bathory, Lawrence: Faster, Kupper: Thrash. Those were the first things that came to mind.

Q: What is happening with the band at the moment? There are members involved in other projects, can you give me some more details?

А: Jimmy is out touring, playing bass with Isole and Ereb Altor, he has written a couple of song ideas for the next album. He’s in charge of Loch Vostok’s web stuff as well, so he’s busy for sure.

Klingwall and I play together in Anima Morte, where Klingwall is one of two main writers. The album is almost finished writing wise, and will probably be recorded some time this summer.

Lawrence is writing and creating as always, and Kupper is writing with his new yet unnamed thrash band.

I’m busy touring, drumming with F.K.Ü. you know, we have a new album coming out on Napalm in April „4:Rise of the Mosh Mongers“ and were playing a lot of cool shows, festivals and shit.

Q: There are many musicians among your fans in Bulgaria , or at least people dealing with music on amateur level. Can you share some information about your „gear“?

A: My studio rig is a Peavey JSX with a TC G Major through a Framus 4×12. Very tight and edgy. My live rig is an Axe FX standard through a Peavey power amp, and I usually borrow whatever 4×12 is avaliable at clubs. I use exclusively, and I really mean exclusively…I’m not just saying that because I am endorsed, the Fernandes Vortex Elite guitars. They fucking rule. Imagine the best combination ever of an old Gibson flying V and the playability of Ibanez. Fernandes guitars are so damn good, and sturdy as fuck!

Q: Tell us a few words about yourself outside of the band? Do you have a hobby, are you interested in sports for example?

А: I am an advanced amateur fine carpenter, I repair drums, furniture, guitars and basses, plus I create and restore vintage crates, barrels, etc. plus I cook like a motherfucker…I’m actually writing a cook book right now! I am the drinkmaster of doom! I make a mean Mojito bro! I’m also a highly dedicated father and husband. Sports are so gay.

Q: Thank you for taking the time and answering my questions! We hope to see you again in Bulgaria soon. Last „goodbye“ words? 😉

А: That was all? Well then, thanks for being interrested what an old geezer from Sweden had to say. Try this: „The Tomahawk“ 3cl vodka, 1cl campari, 2cl peach liquor, fill up in highball glass, top off with 7up or sprite. Listen to Slayer. Enjoy.
