Let’s be clear at first- I’m not keen neither on progressive, nor on whatsoever -core. Yeaaahh, no. Darkness Descends seems to have changed more or less my opinion about the genres, ending with the sweet syllables. Another Fallen Soul was their first song I heard and honestly, my expectations ran high. A melancholic begining, tough rythm, dreamy male vocas ranging (and raging) between Chino Moreno and early Matt Heafy – what more can a fan wish for!
Next stop – growling station! Red Shift is one of those songs that just get stuck inside your head, no matter if you want them to or not. Headbanging – guaranteed.
Trial by Fire tells the story of a psychopath murderer (nice, huh?) in a very interesting manner. I reccomend that you hear it. What a pity that the duration of this musical voyage is barely 3 minutes!
And at last, unfortunately, is Infected Defective Detective – an epopee of drums and bass!
The autopsy is over. As much as for four songs. The expert report of the musical coroner shows that the group, standing behind this EP, definately has future – as long as it gets rid of the clichée that the irksome and inexplicable (at least for me) syllables -core bring.
For those talented americans I give
in digits: 9/10
