Arkona – Stenka na Stenku EP
The brothers from Arkona jumped up with a new EP in 27th of May. The EP is called Stenka na Stenku. We could again enjoy Masha’s beautiful and unique voice. This woman is absolutely brilliant, I’ve never heard similar female voice in other pagan/folk metal project. There is so much passion and magnetism, I bristle all over, when she sings. Стенка на стенку (wall to wall) is Russian ancient ritual fight in honour of Perun. The EP contains 6 song, one of them is a cover of a Russian gipsy song, called “Valenki, valenki”. It is definitely a good choice for a song, where electric guitars, basses and drums can be added. This is Arkona-Style, very good for listening. The cover artwork is also beautiful, I hope we will understand soon more about it and also the conception of the EP. The song Skal is in German and is recorded with Freki from the German band Varg. Last year Arkona destroyed Ragnarök Festival in Germany and may be there they met Freki and this is the result of that meeting. There are very good instrumental parts and the song Skal sounds like Bavarian, Russian Folklore with black/pagan elements. I want to drink, when I listen to it.
I recommend all Arkona Fans to get as soon as possible Arkona’s new release, also is recommended for fans of: SatanaKozel, Eluveitie, Bran Barr, Dalriada, Odroedir, Ignus Fatuu.
