So, Skinlepsy turns out to be the intersection, where three quite experienced Brazilian thrash metal soldiers crossed each other’s paths. Their journey began ten years ago – the band was founded in 2003 and the style direction they chose was “brutal thrash metal”(a definition we completely agree with). The first record in their history, by one reason or another, is getting released just in time for the anniversary. The contents? A 33-minute-long triumph of classical (groove) thrash, as you already may have figured out by yourself. You can really tell that these three Brazilians have a lot of experinence but they also demonstrate an inexhaustible energy, transformed into pure rage, and it seems they don’t mind having their influences shown – this Sao Paulo band’s music possesses the typical Bay Area thrash feeling which brings to mind associations with Slayer and Exodus, and besides all, the nine songs (plus a short intro) are an absolute reminder of all those countless hours, spent in innocent destruction of furnishings, while listening to Far Beyond Driven and The Great Southern Trendkill by Pantera. Well, I suppose now, knowing what to expect from Skinlepsy’s debut, you have more that a solid reason to listen to it as soon as possible.
